HOW TO MAKE MULLIN

Last week we hosted our first Mullin tasting party in Brooklyn (Melbourne locations coming soon)! We had two goals: 1. We want to find the best wines to pair with Mullin 2. We want to discover how people make Mullin their own.

Our results are below!

We tried a cabernet, merlot, zinfandel, and pinot noir—all priced around the $15 range. Remember: you are microwaving the wine, so no need to go too fancy!

First, we added one infuser to each mug filled with a different wine. Then we heated the mug in the microwave for 45 seconds. After heating, we kept the infuser in the mug for an additional 3 minutes to continue steeping.

Out of these varieties, our friends liked the cabernet and merlot the best. The fuller-bodied red soak up the full range of the spice profile, for the most rich and complex flavor.

The great debate: Spicy vs. Sweet

When it comes to mulling wine, everyone’s palette is a little different. We’ve found there are a few ways to make Mullin based on your personal preference. We’ve provided examples of our each of our co-founders mull their wine.

Sony likes it spicy. She removed her infuser right after the three minutes of steeping.

Raegan likes it sweet. She keeps her infuser in the wine until she’s finished.

Julie is in between. She steeps her infuser for 5-7 minutes max, but then removes so it doesn’t get too sweet.

We’d love to hear how you enjoy your mulled wine. Please share in the comments below!
